Waderlusting // Rocky Mountains, Colorado
Colorado, steal my heart, why don't ya!! You can't even imagine how much I was looking forward to this mini-vacay trip to Colorado with some of my dearest and oldest friends, a much needed girls weekend! My only experience with the Midwest has been a road trip to Kansas City, Missouri. I'm a coastal girl and I've lived by the ocean (whether the Pacific or now the Atlantic) my entire life. I've been to Las Vegas a bunch of times and always thought it weird to look at the horizon and not see the ocean, but instead just miles and miles of...land. Of course, Colorado is the same way, but let me tell you, the Rocky Mountains were SO beautiful that it more than made up for the lack of ocean sighting!
We took the drive up to the Rocky Mountains to spend the night at a bed & breakfast in Fraser. We drove there at night - out in the middle of nowhere, high in the mountains. You can imagine how scary of a drive that was not being able to see anything. However, in the morning, this is what we woke up to...Oh you know, just the most beautiful sight!
A visit to Rocky Mountain National Park got us a short sight of something I can semi check off my bucket list - a moose! Well, a mama and baby. I've been wanting to catch the sight of a male moose for such a long time now! The wildlife in these mountains are abundant, majestic and mesmerizing, to say the very least. We even encountered a family of rams coming down the mountain on the drive back. And the hustling skiing/snowboarding town of Breckenridge was absolutely gorgeous - on my next trip, I'll be sure to do some snowboarding!
I mean, seriously, I cannot get over how gorgeous it was! I'm still swooning over all the breathtaking views (literally everywhere!) - and I've never seen so much snow in my life! For those of you who follow me on Pinterest, you know that I'm a big nature fan, so I can literally talk about this all day. This trip was exactly what I needed - a relaxing weekend away from the city with some of my very favorite people! I highly recommend you experience this for yourself!
